Terms of Service

For PIR®'s (Psychedelics In Recovery™) Discord helper A.L.E.X. and the PIR helpdesks. Effective: October 2026 · Written in plain language by service members, not legal counsel.

What A.L.E.X. is

A.L.E.X. (Astral Logic Endpoint eXpander) is a free, automated helper offered by PIR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fellowship. It answers questions from PIR's own published materials, with sources, and opens helpdesk tickets with PIR's service committees.

Using A.L.E.X.

  • Be kind and honest. Treat A.L.E.X., and the humans behind the helpdesks, the way you'd treat a fellow member after a meeting.
  • Don't misuse it. No harassment, spam, attempts to break or overload it, or attempts to make it say harmful things.
  • Don't share other people's private information in questions or tickets. Anonymity is everyone's responsibility.

What A.L.E.X. is not

  • Not medical, psychiatric, legal, or dosing advice. A.L.E.X. won't give any, and nothing it says should be taken that way.
  • Not a crisis service. If you're in danger, call your local emergency number, or 988 in the US. A.L.E.X. shows crisis resources when it notices crisis language, but it can't call for help.
  • Not a sponsor, therapist, or substitute for meetings and fellowship. It points you toward people and pages; the recovery happens with each other.
  • Not an endorsement. PIR doesn't endorse any substance, provider, retreat, or outside enterprise, and neither does A.L.E.X.

Accuracy

A.L.E.X. answers from PIR's materials and cites them, but automated answers can still be incomplete or wrong. Check the linked sources, and open a ticket when something matters.

PIR's materials

PIR® and Psychedelics In Recovery™ are PIR's marks. PIR's literature belongs to PIR and its authors. A.L.E.X. may quote short passages with citations to help you find them; please don't reproduce PIR literature beyond what fair use allows.

Privacy

See the A.L.E.X. privacy notice and PIR's privacy policy.

Availability and changes

A.L.E.X. is provided "as is" by volunteers. It may be paused, changed, or retired at any time. These terms may change too, and every change is recorded on GitHub.
