The site header now stays out of your way while you scroll — and comes right back when you need it

If you visit the site on your phone, you’ll notice the navigation bar now tucks itself away as you read down a page, giving you more room to actually see the content — and slides right back into view the moment you start scrolling back up, so it’s always there when you want it.

What changed

• The header hides smoothly as you scroll down, and reappears as soon as you scroll up — even if you’re deep into a long page, not just at the very top.
• The Contact and Donate buttons and the site logo got an initial sizing/spacing pass on phones and tablets. (The mobile menu button itself needed more work than first thought — see the follow-up entry below.)
• A search box used on several pages (homepage, resources, and every blog post) no longer causes the page to scroll sideways on mobile — a bug that had come back more than once and is now fixed everywhere the search box appears, not just where it was originally noticed.

Why it mattered

Small, real annoyances on mobile — a header eating screen space, a sideways scroll that shouldn’t be there — add up. None of this changes what the site does, just how comfortable it is to use, especially for the majority of visitors who are on a phone.

What’s still being worked on

The header’s reveal-on-scroll-up behavior is confirmed working on desktop browsers; real-device testing on mobile is ongoing to make sure it feels just as smooth there.
