November 2024: Berkeley ends, Salt Lake City begins, and the donate button gets a workaround

TL;DR: November 2024: the Berkeley in-person meeting ends and comes off the website, Salt Lake City launches a new in-person meeting, the donate button is broken (PayPal works - members donate manually to todd@joyoflivingsober.com), and two committees are being born: PR and Retreat 2025, each waiting on the digest-to-calendar transition to finish first.

The tradition: Tradition 11

At a public level, members may self-disclose involvement in PIR without claiming to represent the organization. Prentice, Douglas and David L shared; the appendix preserves the full transcript - including David L’s trickster take on being “David L in 12 step meetings since the nineties.”

Minutes of the last meeting were approved (10 in favor, 1 not, 1 abstain).

Old business

  • Physical meetings: Berkeley has ended and been taken down; Santa Cruz is still live. GSRs asked to survey which in-person meetings remain.
  • New committees: the PR committee was voted and approved (proposal to the board, work to begin once the digest transitions to the calendar). The Retreat 2025 committee (Eka) has a 30-person WhatsApp group, waiting on a Zoom room. Kevin’s caution: as a federally exempt organization, retreat plans need care about legality.
  • Digest to calendar transition: several meetings still owe their preference and contact email; Anne proposed a one-month deadline.

New business

  • Donate button does not work: PayPal works, the website button does not. Interim guidance: donate manually via PayPal to todd@joyoflivingsober.com. Prentice suggested adding recurring donation options - a seed that would eventually sprout.
  • New meeting protocol: Salt Lake City’s meeting (core group, 6-14 regulars) wants to post its flyer; the group agreed a firm protocol for incorporating new meetings is needed.
  • GSR reports and calls to service: Sunday Detach with Love and Thursday Love, Sex & Relationships asked attendance at their business meetings; Santa Cruz and Austin struggling with attendance; Sunday Integration needs a permanent GSR.
