Opening and reflection

A reading and discussion of Tradition 12 - creating safe, sacred, and inclusive spaces for recovery, prioritizing principles over personalities.

Committee updates

  • 12 & 12 Writing Committee (Douglas): actively rewriting Step 1 of PIR’s version of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, blending traditional recovery principles with psychedelic integration; 10-12 on the roster.
  • Retreat Planning (Eka): location challenge - a state where psychedelic ceremonies are fully legal; Oregon the leading candidate, updates after the January board meeting. Concerns about international barriers.
  • Literature Committee (Mike): a major FAQ revision on the PIR website, fixing formatting and question-answer alignment. Christopher W. elected LitCom chair for 2025, to oversee printed materials including the updated Twelve Steps poster.
  • Book Project (Cliff): big book revisions nearing completion; final editing and design phases late December or January.
  • Tech Committee (Dave): meeting link system revamped, no recent Zoom-bombing reports; a dedicated PayPal account for contributions and a TechSoup account for nonprofit discounts.

New business

  • Hybrid meeting (Missy, Salt Lake City): a well-equipped venue is available; needs a dedicated group email with automated Zoom-link responses and TechCom coordination.
  • Research collaboration (Anne): the University of Exeter proposed a Ph.D. study comparing PIR’s model to traditional 12-step approaches - visibility in academic and medical communities; a detailed proposal to come to the next GSR meeting.
  • Digest issues (Rob): the calendar digest requires email input but fails to deliver links; an automated email-response system proposed. Pat suggested making email monitoring a formal service role.

The board meeting was rescheduled to January 6, 2025.
